The opening of the 2017 Fairgrounds Festival of Lights on Friday, November 24th will mark the return of the festival's popular stage magic show featuring “Kandy Kane.” Buffalo-native John Kennedy Kane will reprise the roll as the “World’s Largest Elf” after his recent, four-year run as the ringmaster of the world famous Big Apple Circus in New York City.

More than just a magic show, Kane’s dynamic sharp wit and self-deprecating humor is meant to entertain both children and adults alike during each half-hour performance. Showtimes are schedules for 6:30p & 8:30p each day of the Festival with three performances on Saturdays at 6:30p, 8p and 9:15p.

John Kennedy Kane’s “Kandy Kane” first appearance was during the inaugural Fairgrounds Festival of Lights in 2005 and continued to entertain Western New Yorkers until 2012 when he was recruited by the New York’s Big Apple Circus.

Raised in South Buffalo, Kane has traveled the United States and Canada as a professional circus performer for more than 35 years. He is a self-taught magician who built his own circus menagerie in his family home at the age of 8. He joined the Clyde Beatty-Cole Circus a week after graduating from Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School where his crowd-pleasing comic timing led him to create his signature clown persona, “Eggroll.” In 1995, he earned Gold Medal honors at the Sarasota International Circus Festival.

The 2017 Fairgrounds Festival of Lights will be open for eighteen nights, with opening night on the Friday after Thanksgiving and running every weekend through December 17th with an expanded schedule December 18th through the 23rd. The Festival is open from 5:00pm-9:00pm, with the buildings and grounds staying open until 10p.

Admission to the Fairgrounds Festival of Lights is $25 per carload at the gate. The carload admission includes all aspects of the Festival. Festival goers can save 40% on gate admission with the purchase of a $15 advance sale carload voucher at all Tops Friendly Markets until November 23rd. The Fairgrounds Festival of Lights is sponsored by the Erie County Agricultural Society (ECAS). For more information regarding the Fairgrounds Festival of Lights visit www.FairgroundsHoliday.com.
