The Youth Livestock Expo at the Erie County Fair has been created with the goals of utilizing the facility to its fullest extent, providing the youth another opportunity to show, offering New York State youth exhibitors a “State Fair” type of event, all the while encouraging participation in youth market animal projects.
The Youth Livestock Expo is open to exhibitors ages 4-21 from the US and Canada. The expo will include 4 market animal species; beef, hog, lamb and goat. The program requires exhibitors to participate in at least two contests outside of the show ring. Contests will include marketing, interview, photography, ag issues, stall decorating and creating educational posters. The expo boasts nationally recognized judges, over $18,000 in total premiums for market and showmanship divisions, and top notch facilities.
The Erie County Agricultural Society pledges 2 opportunities
for youth to win a $10,000 scholarship. If an exhibitor wins 3 of the 4 Champion
Market Animal Titles they will be awarded a $10,000 scholarship. Also, if an
exhibitor wins 3 of the 4 Champion Showman Competitions, they will be awarded a
$10,000 scholarship.
